Southern Pecan Pie


1 (9 inch) unbaked pie crust

1 cup light corn syrup

1/2 cup granulated sugar

3 eggs

2 tablespoons butter, melted

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup pecan halves

Optional: Whipped cream or ice cream for serving


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the corn syrup, sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.

Stir in the pecan halves until evenly mixed.

Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust.

Place the pie on a baking sheet and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the filling is set and the crust is golden brown.

Remove from the oven and let cool completely.

Serve the pie chilled or at room temperature, topped with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired.
